Light, air, and water are the basic requirements for any plant to survive. Outdoor plants receive these in abundance. However, indoor plantation needs extra care and attention.

The solution? Grow Lights.

Grow lights are an artificial light source designed to provide a light spectrum that is tailored to the needs of the plant being cultivated. External conditions are mirrored with variations in colour, temperature, and spectral outputs. Grow lights can also be customised depending on the divergency of plant and its growing stage. They are also used for means such as indoor gardening, plant propagation, horticulture and food production including hydroponics (growing plants without soil) and aquatic plants.

Here are the advantages of using LEDs in grow-lights:

Light Spectrum- LEDs have the ability to produce wavelength specific light to optimize plant growth. Different ratios of red and blue light affect the plant in different ways during phases of growth.

temperature-01.pngTemperature- The naturally cool LED’s use an unsubstantial amount of heat compared to other broadband sources.(1) This diminishes the need to have a separate venting system for temperature control. LED grow-lamps also keep the space at a level that is comfortable for the plants and eliminates the need for an air-conditioning unit during summer.

energy-01.pngEnergy Efficient- LED lights are directional in nature and have higher wattage diodes such as 3 watts and 5 watts. 80% to 90% of energy is converted into light and only the rest of it is wasted as heat in LED’s making them highly energy efficient. LED lights specifically designed for this purpose are focused on the growth of the plant -

Long Lifespan- LED’s usually last for 50,000 to 90,000 hours until lm-70 is reached making them a long term investment. LED lights are also mercury-free as well as 100% recyclable reducing the carbon footprint by up to a third.

At V-TAC, we have a range of LED Tubes suited to the food and plant sector and the applications vary from use in supermarkets to use in greenhouses.

These lights are beneficial indoor plants and in countries where plants cannot survive outdoors.
